Bajel Projects Limited, an Indian engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) company specializing in power transmission and part of the Bajaj Group, has signed a contract worth more than $40 million with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to build two sections of a 500kV overhead transmission line.
According to a statement issued by the Indian Embassy in Cairo on Thursday, July 23, 2026, the agreement was signed by Rajesh Ganesh, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bajel Projects, and Mona Rizk, Chairwoman of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company.
For his part, Indian Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K. Reddy welcomed the agreement, noting that it reflects the growing confidence in Indian companies and the strength of economic cooperation between Egypt and India. He noted that Bajel is part of the Bajaj Group, which has businesses valued at around $40 billion.
Ganesh described the contract as a major milestone for the company, saying it marks BAJEL'S first 500kV transmission line project in the Middle East and North Africa and expands its presence in the region. According to the embassy, the project aligns with Egypt's program to upgrade its high-voltage power grid, boost reliability, and satisfy growing energy demand from economic and industrial expansion.
