Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt is keen to deepen its partnership with Cisco Systems and expand cooperation in ICT, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, innovation and skills development. Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting with Cisco Chairman and CEO Chuck Robbins and his delegation, attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi and ITIDA CEO Ahmed El-Zaher.
The meeting focused on expanding cooperation in technology and AI, cybersecurity, innovation and skills development, as well as increasing Cisco's investments and activities in Egypt. Madbouly described Cisco as a strategic partner for Egypt and said the government is seeking to attract further investment and benefit from the company's global expertise to support digital transformation and strengthen the country's technological capabilities.
He also stressed the importance of providing clear and stable frameworks for cooperation and expanding Cisco's operations in Egypt. Madbouly called for expanding Cisco's training and capacity-building programs, particularly those aimed at helping Egyptian youth obtain internationally recognized technology certifications.
Robbins said Cisco has made significant progress in its partnership with Egypt and is looking to explore new areas of cooperation. He added that Cisco has significant investments and activities in Egypt, with education and digital skills development among its key priorities.
Cisco's programs have so far trained around 670,000 students in Egypt, Robbins said, adding that the company plans to significantly increase that number. He also highlighted opportunities to cooperate on innovation, including establishing innovation centers, addressing cybersecurity risks associated with AI and developing AI-powered applications.
Robbins said Egypt has an important role to play in technology and AI and reaffirmed Cisco's readiness to explore future cooperation with the Egyptian government. On his part, Minister of Communications Hindi described Cisco as a strategic partner that has contributed to national digital transformation projects and development initiatives since establishing its Egyptian office.
