Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Dr. Badr Abdelatty met the Head and CEO of the Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation (JOIN) on Friday 5/6/2026 during his visit to Japan. The meeting focused on ways to enhance cooperation in the field of infrastructure, investment, and urban development.
Minister Abdelatty reviewed the important developments that have been achieved in Egypt’s infrastructure, including new road networks, highways and modern urban centers. Abdelatty also expressed his desire to cooperate with the "JOIN" company in the Egyptian market, highlighting opportunities for collaboration between the company and leading Egyptian infrastructure firms.
Both parties aim to support joint projects in Arab and African markets. The Foreign Minister Abdelatty also discussed developments in the Egyptian economy in light of the economic reforms implemented by the government in recent years. These steps aim to build a competitive economy and attract foreign investment.
Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt provides the Japanese companies with a platform to diversify their production centers and supply chains, highlighting the competitive advantages of the Egyptian market; its strategic location and the network of free zone agreements that connect Egypt to Arab, African, and European markets.
The meeting also addressed opportunities for cooperation with the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The Minister welcomed the agreement signed by JOIN company and the Economic Zone, expressing his hope that this cooperation would drive into actual investments in infrastructure and logistics projects.
