Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid affirmed that the state has achieved a major leap in empowering companies across both banking and non-banking financial sectors to operate within a structured regulatory framework—a key catalyst for attracting investment.
In exclusive statements to Egyptian Television’s Channel 1, Farid said that regarding entrepreneurship, the government has focused on enabling startup founders and their enterprises to operate within an organized framework, allowing these businesses to grow and scale effectively.
The Investment Minister outlined several key pillars for future government action, primarily expanding access to finance. This will be carried out in coordination between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the Ministry of Investment by establishing investment funds that provide financing for entrepreneurs, with joint participation from the private sector.
Farid added that the state will also launch "regulatory sandboxes" and business incubators, giving innovators access to data to validate their projects' commercial viability. Furthermore, efforts will focus on boosting exports by connecting exporters with overseas buyers, raising awareness of rules of origin and trade agreements, and ensuring compliance with quality and standardization requirements.
Farid clarified that work is currently underway to amend the executive regulations of the companies law, which will make it easier for existing companies to raise capital, increase equity, and merge with other firms.
