Banque Misr has signed a cooperation protocol to join the "Update Your KYC in Egypt” initiative, launched by the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, to ease banking data updates for Egyptians living abroad.
The protocol was signed during the seventh edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference in the presence of Tarek El-Khouly, Deputy Governor of the CBE. Signatories included Ambassador Nabil Habashi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Hisham Okasha, CEO of Banque Misr; and Mohamed El-Etreby, CEO of the National Bank of Egypt.
The agreement will allow Banque Misr customers residing abroad to update their banking information through Egyptian embassies and consulates, ensuring uninterrupted access to the bank's services while they are outside Egypt. The initiative's first phase will cover 67 countries, reflecting Banque Misr's commitment to strengthening ties with Egyptians abroad while supporting sustainable economic development.
Banque Misr said the protocol underscores its commitment to supporting the state's priorities by expanding access to banking services for Egyptians overseas through innovative solutions that enhance financial inclusion and advance Egypt's digital transformation agenda.
The initiative is designed to make banking services more accessible to expatriates while delivering a seamless customer experience that strengthens their connection with Egypt's banking sector. Hisham Okasha, CEO of Banque Misr, said the protocol reflects the bank's national role as a strategic partner in supporting Egypt's economic development and its continued cooperation with the CBE to expand financial inclusion.
He said the initiative enables Egyptians living abroad to update their banking information through Egyptian embassies and consulates in participating countries without the need to travel to Egypt, using secure and innovative digital solutions aligned with the state's digital transformation strategy.
Okasha described the initiative as an important step toward strengthening expatriates' engagement with Egypt's banking sector by offering more accessible and flexible banking services that support sustained connectivity with Egyptians around the world. He added that expanding digital banking services and supporting the state's digital transformation and sustainable development objectives remain key pillars of Banque Misr's strategy.
Banque Misr said it remains committed to delivering banking solutions that support economic growth, broaden access to financial services across all segments of society, strengthen financial stability, and reinforce the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy at the regional and international levels.
