Alexandria Fertilizers Company (AlexFert), a Valmore Holding subsidiary, has signed on Sunday, August 9, 2026, a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with SolarizEgypt to supply its Alexandria production facility with 1 MW of solar power. Under the agreement, SolarizEgypt will finance, develop, own, operate, and maintain the solar plant throughout the 30-year term.
AlexFert will receive clean, reliable electricity at a competitive price without an upfront capital investment. The project is expected to generate around 1.58 GWh of clean electricity annually, reducing AlexFert’s reliance on electricity drawn from the national grid by an estimated 4.2%.
The partnership is part of AlexFert’s efforts to integrate renewable energy into its industrial operations while strengthening energy resilience, operational efficiency, and long-term competitiveness. The project is expected to avoid nearly 718 metric tons of CO2 emissions annually, or around 21,528 metric tons over the 30-year PPA.
The deal also reflects Valmore Holding’s strategy of embedding sustainability across its portfolio companies as a driver of operational excellence and long-term value creation. “This agreement is a practical step in our strategy to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of our industrial operations,” said Alaa el-Banna, Chairman of AlexFert.
By integrating renewable energy into its production facilities, AlexFert aims to strengthen the long-term resilience of its energy system, reduce its reliance on grid electricity, and support cleaner industrial operations, he added. Jon Rokk, CEO of Valmore Holding, said the investment approach goes beyond providing capital to enabling portfolio companies to build more efficient, resilient, and sustainable business models.
Ayman Waheed, CEO of SolarizEgypt, said PPAs provide industrial companies with access to clean, reliable electricity without upfront capital expenditure, helping improve business efficiency and generate long-term value. Established in 2003, AlexFert is a Valmore Holding subsidiary and a producer of nitrogen fertilizers serving local and international markets.
