Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty affirmed that the “Alamein–Africa Forum” is a new platform for African economic dialogue, bringing together governments, continental institutions, the business community, the private sector and financial and development institutions.
He said the forum is based on the firm conviction that economic integration can be built via partnerships, investments, projects and tangible opportunities. In his remarks at the opening of the “Alamein–Africa Forum,” attended by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Abdelatty welcomed the participants to Egypt and New Alamein City, expressing his sincere appreciation for their participation in the inaugural edition of the forum, which Egypt is hosting as part of its hosting of a number of continental events this year.
He said the launch of the forum implements African Union Decision no. 973, issued in February 2026 during the African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, calling for the forum to be held in New Alamein every two years in cooperation with the African Union Commission, the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).
He said that this reflects a shared aspiration to develop the tools of African economic cooperation and strengthen the role that the private sector can play in advancing economic integration and development across the continent. He stressed that the private sector is one of the key drivers of growth and job creation in Africa and an indispensable partner in boosting trade and investment and enhancing the competitiveness of African economies.
