Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk affirmed the depth of the historic and fraternal relations and longstanding ties between Egypt and Sudan, stressing Egypt's commitment to providing all possible support to its Sudanese brothers to develop the agricultural sector and achieve Arab integration in addressing current global challenges.
The remarks came on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, during the minister's meeting with Sudanese Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Dr. Essam Qurashi Abdullah and Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development Dr. Ibrahim El Dukhiri to discuss ways of enhancing regional and joint cooperation in the fields of food security and sustainable agricultural development.
The meeting was attended by President of the Agricultural Research Center Dr. Adel Abdel Azim and ARC Deputy President and Supervisor of Foreign Agricultural Relations Dr. Saad Moussa. The meeting reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation in agricultural scientific research, genetic improvement programs for livestock breeds to boost productivity, as well as expanding technical support and providing modern technologies to assist farmers and various agricultural activities.
The two sides also discussed intensifying training programs aimed at qualifying and training Sudanese human and technical cadres at the Egyptian International Center for Agriculture, in addition to promoting investment in agro-food processing industries to maximize the added value of agricultural products and help bridge the food gap.
The two sides agreed to form a joint working team to follow up on the implementation of the agreed areas of cooperation and develop practical implementation mechanisms that serve their mutual interests and support the Arab food security system.
