Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk headed on Monday, October 5, 2026, to the Spanish capital Madrid to participate in the opening of Fruit Attraction 2026 Fair set to kick off Tuesday and warps up on Thursday with broad participation from leading exporters, importers and international retail chains.
The minister’s visit comes at the invitation of Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Luis Planas to attend the fair’s opening and hold one-on-one meetings to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation, exchange expertise and facilitate agricultural trade between the two countries.
Farouk said in statements before his departure that the State attaches great importance to applying the highest standards of quality and traceability at all stages of production and exports. All drives, he said, resulted in growing confidence in Egyptian agricultural produce in European and global markets.
He stressed that the government would continue providing all forms of support to farmers and exporters to enhance competitiveness and overcome any obstacles to the growth of agricultural exports. The Minister said Egypt’s participation in the global event underscores the position of national agricultural products in international markets.
The fair is a strategic platform for Egypt’s export sector as it coincides with preparations for the start of the new export season, giving companies a direct opportunity to conclude contracts, establish export programs and expand their customer base. He noted that the current edition has a strong Egyptian presence, with a number of Egyptian companies operating in agricultural produce exports taking part and seeking to capitalize on the fair’s regional and international momentum to increase opportunities to promote Egyptian agricultural exports.
He added that Egypt’s participation aims to open new markets for national products and keep abreast of the latest developments in supply chains and international competition, supporting the state’s plan to increase agricultural export revenues and strengthen their global competitiveness.
