Three people have died after a supply boat sank following a collision with a landing craft at Singapore’s Pasir Panjang Terminal, prompting a major search and rescue operation involving multiple maritime agencies. The accident occurred at about 9:30am local time on Friday, June 12 in waters near one of Singapore’s busiest container terminals.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said vessels from the MPA, the Police Coast Guard (PCG) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) Marine Division were deployed to the scene to conduct rescue and recovery efforts. According to the MPA, the Police Coast Guard recovered three bodies believed to be crew members from the sunken supply boat.

“Search and rescue operations, including diving operations, are ongoing to determine if there are other crew members from the supply boat missing,” the authority said in a statement. The landing craft involved in the collision remained stable after the incident and no injuries were reported among its crew.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances that led to the collision, and investigations into the incident are expected to continue. Pasir Panjang Terminal is one of Singapore’s principal container gateways and a key hub for regional and international shipping.

Despite the incident, the MPA said port operations were not disrupted. Navigational broadcasts were issued to vessels in the area, advising them to keep clear of the accident site while emergency and recovery operations remained underway.
