The second phase of the East Nile monorail will begin operation on Saturday, completing the line from Cairo Stadium Station in Nasr City to the City of Justice Station in the New Capital, Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir said Friday. The newly opened section extends service to El-Mosheer Tantawy and includes six stations: Cairo Stadium, Hisham Barakat, Al-Azhar University, Seventh District, El-Mosheer Ahmed Ismail and Jehan El-Sadat.
The monorail will operate daily from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The expansion is expected to strengthen transport links between Greater Cairo, New Cairo and the New Capital through integration with Metro Line 3 at Cairo Stadium Station. Future interchanges with Metro Lines 4 and 6 are also planned.
The ministry said the operator will continue offering a 50% fare discount on Fridays, Saturdays and official holidays to encourage travel to the New Capital.
