File copy of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang The All Progressives Congress on Friday declared Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, as winners of the party’s governorship primaries in their respective states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In Plateau State, the Chairman of the APC Committee for the governorship and House of Assembly primaries, Fidelis Mnyim, announced the result on Friday night at the party secretariat in Jos after collating returns from the 17 local government areas of the state.
Mnyim said Mutfwang secured the majority of votes cast by party members across the state to emerge as the APC governorship candidate. According to the results, Mutfwang polled 233,335 votes to defeat his only opponent, retired military officer, Chief Yilcini Jan Bida, who scored 3,070 votes.
“Therefore, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, having satisfied the requirements of the APC constitution and guidelines and having scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared elected and returned as the governorship candidate of Plateau State,” the returning officer stated.
Mutfwang formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party on December 29, 2025 and joined the APC on January 2, 2026. In Kwara State, the APC announced Danladi-Salihu as its governorship candidate following the outcome of the party’s primary election held across the 16 local government areas of the state. Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee and former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, announced the result in Ilorin after the exercise.
Obanikoro said 15 aspirants participated in the contest, with Danladi-Salihu emerging winner after polling 94,990 votes. According to the results announced by the committee, Ambassador Yahaya Seriki scored 41,700 votes, while former APC state chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa, polled 22,118 votes.
