Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad said that Egypt’s unemployment rate falling from around 13% in 2014 to 5.8% currently represents a major achievement accomplished during the tenure of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He noted that the decline resulted from the state’s efforts to support investment, expand national projects and strengthen vocational employment training, alongside cooperation with the private sector to provide job opportunities.
These remarks came at a press conference held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, to launch the “general rules for the work regulations” for private-sector companies and establishments. The Minister said the government is working to implement the directives of President Sisi through integrated policies aimed at increasing employment opportunities, enhancing young people’s skills and promoting job security and stability in ways that support investment, production and development.
He added that the progress made in reducing unemployment reflects the impact of the policies and measures adopted by the state over the past years, particularly in investment, national projects, training and employment, as well as strengthening partnerships with the private sector as a key partner in creating job opportunities.
He stressed that continued efforts to provide decent jobs and improve the efficiency of the Egyptian workforce remain among the key pillars of the state’s policies for the coming period.
