Minister of Transport Kamel El-Wazir inaugurated 10 modern electric buses on Monday to support the smart, green mass transit system in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of Engineer Khaled Abbas, Chairman of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company (ACUD), and Sabry Abdel Latif, Chairman of ACTA Public Transport Company.

The inauguration comes as part of Egypt's celebrations marking the anniversary of the June 30 Revolution, reflecting the vision of the New Republic championed by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, and falls within the Ministry of Transport's plan to expand sustainable, environmentally friendly mass transit.

El-Wazir said the new buses are among the most advanced public transport vehicles operating in Egypt. They are fully electric and locally manufactured, supporting the state's efforts to expand sustainable transportation while promoting the national industry in the production of modern transport vehicles.

According to a Ministry of Transport statement issued on Monday, the buses are equipped with the latest digital technologies and smart operating systems, providing passengers with a modern, safe and comfortable travel experience. The buses feature visual and audio passenger information systems, an advanced vehicle tracking system, electronic ticketing and fare collection devices, internal and external digital displays showing routes and travel information, a smart bus stop system, USB charging ports for mobile devices, and high-efficiency air-conditioning systems.

El-Wazir added that the buses have been fully equipped to serve passengers with disabilities, ensuring ease of access and mobility in line with the highest standards of accessibility and inclusion. He said the addition of the new buses is part of ACTA's strategy to modernize its fleet in line with the latest international standards and to expand the use of technology and innovation in public transport services, keeping pace with the rapid urban development taking place in the New Administrative Capital.

The move will also contribute to improving the quality of life and enhancing the efficiency of the city's transport network. The buses will enter service immediately on various routes as part of ACTA's plan to expand smart public transport services in response to growing demand within the New Administrative Capital.

They will facilitate passenger movement to and from the Light Rail Transit (LRT) and the East Nile Monorail, increasing network capacity, reducing waiting times, and improving the quality of services provided to commuters. The Ministry of Transport reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the state's plans to develop a smart, sustainable mass transit system through the wider adoption of clean and environmentally friendly transport.

It said these efforts support Egypt's vision of building modern, sustainable cities that offer safe, efficient and advanced transport services meeting citizens' aspirations.
