Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir, and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat paid a field visit to Jabal Sahaba in Sinai and Jabal Ataqa in Suez to inspect potential sites for new wind farm projects. Accompanied by the Heads of the New and Renewable Energy Authority and the Canal Electricity Distribution Company, the two ministers visited several high-altitude locations, reaching 640 meters at Jabal Sahaba and 870 meters at Jabal Ataqa.

During their field tour, both ministers reviewed real-time wind speeds, assessed geographic suitability, and examined power transmission grid routes. The visit was organized in pursuance of a plan to expand renewable energy projects, with a view to increasing the share of renewables in the national energy mix to 45% by 2028.

It also falls within the framework of a state strategy to introduce new generating capacities, reduce fuel consumption, and lower carbon emissions by optimizing the country's abundant natural wind and solar resources to achieve sustainable development goals.
