Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed the state’s interest in logistics and transport projects linking Egypt with African countries as part of efforts to support trade, tourism and investment flows through continuous coordination with partners across the continent.
Madbouly highlighted the importance of expanding EgyptAir’s network within Africa, alongside maritime transport links, to strengthen trade and economic integration with African states. The remarks came during a meeting held Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to review efforts aimed at enhancing trade and logistical connectivity with African countries, attended by Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El Hefny, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid, Deputy Foreign Minister for African Affairs Mohamed Abu Bakr, and officials from relevant ministries and agencies.
For his part, the civil aviation minister reviewed the operational plan for air routes linking Egypt with a large number of African capitals and cities as part of the state’s strategy to deepen cooperation with African countries. He said the plan aims to increase direct air connectivity to support trade, investment and tourism, in addition to improving air cargo capacity and logistics services across the continent.
Meanwhile, the transport minister stressed that strengthening ties with African countries remains a top priority for Egypt through the development of various transport networks to facilitate intra-African trade, improve maritime and land connectivity, and ease the movement of people and goods.
The investment minister said the state is pursuing a clear strategy to boost trade exchange with African countries, affirming his ministry’s support for efforts led by the transport and civil aviation ministries in this regard. He added that meetings will be held with relevant investors to advance implementation of these plans and achieve the targeted objectives.
The deputy foreign minister stressed the importance of the proposals discussed during the meeting, noting Egypt’s growing interest in enhancing communication and connectivity with African countries at all levels to support continental integration and joint development efforts.
Participants agreed to form a joint working group chaired by the investment minister to develop executive mechanisms aimed at strengthening trade and investment cooperation frameworks between Egypt and African countries. The group will also work on increasing trade exchange, facilitating exports and imports, and enhancing logistics, transport and shipping services to help open new markets for Egyptian products and strengthen economic integration across Africa.
