Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reaffirmed the government's commitment to developing the performance of the stock exchange, enhancing its stability and protecting investors across non-banking financial sectors. Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting he held on Monday, August 10, 2026, to review a number of proposals aimed at improving the performance of the Egyptian Exchange, as well as the progress it has made in recent months.

The meeting was attended by Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh, Financial Regulatory Authority Chairman Islam Azzam and Egyptian Exchange Chairman Omar Radwan. The Premier welcomed positive developments on the Egyptian Exchange, particularly a rise in average daily trading value to EGP 15 billion (USD 304 million) and market capitalization exceeding EGP 4 trillion.

Farid presented recent performance indicators for the securities market and outlined measures under consideration to improve the exchange, particularly government offerings and incentives to encourage private-sector companies to list. The meeting also tackled preparations for government offerings, including efforts to ready companies for trading and prepare major entities, both state-owned and private, to take advantage of new tax incentives for listings and trading on the Egyptian Exchange.

It also reviewed proposed legislative amendments to Law No. 95 of 1992 and its executive regulations, as well as efforts to highlight tax advantages and incentives linked to securities trading. The meeting reviewed plans to transform the Egyptian Exchange into a joint-stock company, with the possibility of eventually listing it, while also reviewing upgrades to its trading and market-surveillance technology infrastructure.

The attendees further explored new mechanisms for short selling, derivatives and market makers, as well as measures encouraging private insurance funds to invest required portions of their assets in shares and equity investment funds listed on the Egyptian Exchange.

The meeting stressed the need to remove obstacles to establishing new private insurance funds serving a broad segment of investors. Cabinet approves EIB-funded power grid expansion, UAE wind energy agreements List of government, foreign universities and institutes accredited in Egypt
