Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Sunday, June 7, 2026, inaugurated the new expansion phase of the “Şahinler Egypt 2” ready-made garments manufacturing project in the industrial zone of New Borg El Arab City, during his tour of Alexandria governorate. Madbouly affirmed the state's commitment to encouraging industrial projects to expand their investments in Egypt, underscoring the business community’s confidence in the country’s investment climate and the continuous development of infrastructure, as well as the support provided to the industrial and export sectors.
For his part, Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said that the ministry is keen to promote industrial investment and attract investors across various industrial sectors, as part of efforts to advance Egyptian industry and increase the country’s industrial exports.
On the sidelines of the inauguration, the Prime Minister toured the factory and inspected production processes and final products. Madbouly was briefed by General Manager of Şahinler Egyp Mahmoud Kotb on the launch of the new expansion at “Şahinler Egypt 2”, saying that it reflects the company’s commitment—under Turkey’s Şahinler Holding Group—to continuing its expansion plans and strengthening its investments in Egypt’s ready-made garments sector.
Kotb added that the expansion also demonstrates Şahinler Holding’s commitment to contributing to higher industrial exports, creating job opportunities, and supporting Egypt’s strategy for achieving sustainable industrial development while reinforcing the country’s position as a regional and global hub for ready-made garment manufacturing.
He noted that Şahinler Egypt is among the leading foreign industrial investments operating in Egypt’s export-oriented ready-made garments industry. Operating under the private free zones system for more than 18 years, the company has established itself as a trusted industrial partner for numerous global brands.
He also explained that the new expansion has been developed on a land area of approximately 10,908 square meters, with a total built-up area of 16,665 square meters. The project includes an advanced central cutting department equipped with the latest industrial technologies, as well as 32 new production lines, helping increase production capacity and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry in global markets.
Kotb said the expansion has created 1,500 direct jobs and 4,500 indirect jobs, supporting government efforts to generate employment opportunities and promote sustainable economic development. He added that Şahinler Egypt and its new expansion aim to achieve exports worth approximately US$55 million in 2026.
The company is ranked among the largest ready-made garment exporters operating in Egypt’s free zones and is already exporting to a number of countries. Kotb further noted that Şahinler Egypt is committed to applying the highest international standards in quality, sustainability, and social and environmental responsibility, which has enabled it to obtain several prestigious international certifications and accreditations.
The project also includes a 512-kilowatt solar power station to support green manufacturing.
