Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that regulating markets, maintaining price stability, and ensuring the availability of basic commodities remain among the government’s top priorities. He also underscored the continued intensification of market monitoring and firm action against irregular practices to protect citizens’ rights.
Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting held Thursday, October 1, 2026, to review preparations for the “Egypt Forum 2026,” scheduled to take place from October 19 to 24 at the St. Regis Hotel in the New Capital. The forum, held under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives, will highlight developments and achievements across various sectors in recent years.
The meeting reviewed the main themes of two forum sessions: “Egypt’s Energy Journey” and “A More Effective Social Protection System.” Madbouly said the forum will provide an opportunity to discuss the country’s recent developments, explain the considerations behind government policies and decisions, and present its priorities for the coming period.
On energy, the meeting addressed measures taken to secure the country’s energy needs and ensure sustainable supplies for different sectors. It also discussed plans to improve energy efficiency, expand renewable energy sources, develop state resources and attract further investments in the sector.
The meeting also examined the development of the social protection system. Madbouly reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and ensuring that assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries efficiently. He also stressed the importance of addressing the needs of the middle class and protecting it from the impact of inflation and economic fluctuations.
Market regulation was another key topic. The meeting discussed stronger oversight and improved governance of the distribution of essential and strategic commodities to ensure adequate supplies and stable prices. Madbouly called for transparency regarding the challenges facing commodity markets and for clear action plans to curb irregular practices and meet citizens’ expectations for a stable and dignified life.
