Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly inspected Edku International Park at the beginning of his tour of Beheira governorate on Saturday to follow up on a number of service and development projects there. During the visit, the premier stressed that developing the skills of children and young people, discovering and nurturing their talents, and providing opportunities for creativity are prioritized by the state's strategy to build Egyptian citizens and prepare generations capable of innovation and active participation in comprehensive development efforts.
Madbouli was accompanied by Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad, Beheira Governor Jacqueline Azer, Beheira Deputy Governor Shady el Meshed, and a number of officials. For her part, Minister of Local Development Awad affirmed the government's commitment to providing an attractive environment across governorates to nurture talents and promote cultural, creative, and educational activities for children and youth in various fields through the latest educational methods and technological capabilities.
Madbouly listened to a briefing by Beheira governor Azer, who explained that Edku International Park is one of the governorate’s pioneering development projects. The park was implemented in the city of Edku through joint funding from the European Union and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Built on an area of 10,500 square meters, the park serves as an integrated center for social, recreational, and cultural activities, while providing services for local residents. Azer added that the park features green spaces, pedestrian walkways, recreational plazas, seating areas, and a dedicated children's zone.
She noted that its design incorporates several sustainable environmental solutions, including energy-efficient LED lighting, smart irrigation systems, and water-saving plants and equipment, contributing to the preservation of natural resources and the reduction of environmental impacts.
The Governor noted that Edku International Park launched its summer activities and events three weeks ago, with programs continuing throughout the current summer season and scheduled to be held in future summer seasons as well. She added that the governorate organizes these activities in cooperation and coordination with directorates affiliated with various ministries.
Azer emphasized that the launch of artistic, cultural, and technological activities at the park is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at discovering talents, refining the creative abilities of children and young people, and developing their artistic, cultural, and technological skills through the engagement of experts and specialists in various fields.
The initiative, she said, seeks to prepare a generation capable of creativity, innovation, and keeping pace with modern developments. The governor added that the summer program includes 12 workshops organized by the Egypt Public Library in coordination with the Directorate of Education.
The workshops cover digital technologies, agriculture, crochet, beadwork, storytelling, chess, aluminum embossing, robotics, stencil art, interactive activities, clean energy ambassadors, mental arithmetic, and reading challenges, with the participation of students, supervisors, and specialists.
