Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly described the Alexandria Corniche development project as “a real miracle,” saying that the state had undertaken unprecedented efforts to implement the landmark project in a manner befitting the city’s stature and serving both residents and visitors.
Speaking at a press conference held on the sidelines of his visit to Alexandria on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Madbouly expressed his pleasure at being in the coastal city alongside the Ministers of Housing, Transport and Industry, as well as the Governor of Alexandria, to inspect and inaugurate a number of development projects.
The Prime Minister said that the field tour lasted nearly seven hours and began with a visit to the electricity distribution company’s control center in New Borg El Arab. He noted that the facility aims to strengthen governance of the electricity system and curb power theft, stressing that securing and providing electricity remains one of the government's key challenges.
He said Egypt has made significant progress in localizing the transport manufacturing industry, citing his visit to a factory operated by Alstom, which he described as a major milestone reflecting the country’s success in attracting leading international firms to manufacture locally.
The facility is expected to produce signaling and control systems, as well as railway tracks, locally, representing a major breakthrough after such components had previously been imported in full, he said. Madbouly added that Egypt is now capable of manufacturing rolling stock, as well as electronic and electrical systems for railway, metro and monorail networks, through an integrated industrial ecosystem that includes factories in East Port Said and SEMAF, which has been upgraded under the umbrella of the Arab Organization for Industrialization.
