Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Thursday May 14, 2026 affirmed the government’s continued efforts across governorates to improve the quality of services provided to citizens, enhance infrastructure efficiency, and support economic and social development projects.
This came during a meeting held to follow up on the executive status of development and service projects in Beheira Governorate, in the presence of Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad and Beheira Governor Governor Jacqueline Azer. Madbouly stressed the need to adhere to the scheduled timelines for completing ongoing projects, with regular monitoring of implementation rates, particularly in vital sectors including health, education, roads, drinking water, and sanitation.
He also underscored the importance of supporting productive projects and providing job opportunities for the governorate’s residents. For her part, Awad reiterated the ministry’s commitment to regular follow-up of the implementation of various development and service projects in Beheira to ensure timely completion in accordance with set schedules, while working to remove any obstacles facing execution.
Azer presented an overview of the governorate’s investment plan for fiscal year 2025/2026, which includes 242 projects with an implementation rate of 73 percent across sectors such as roads and transport, urban and rural development, economic development, and local and community services, as well as environmental improvement.
On government rationalization measures, the governor noted directives to reduce gasoline consumption by 30 percent and electricity consumption by 15 percent across all affiliated entities, alongside forming a committee headed by the internal audit and governance department to monitor implementation.
She further highlighted efforts to maximize investment returns from ongoing projects, the operational and financial status of existing facilities, and available investment opportunities in the governorate. Regarding the “Decent Life” rural development initiative, Azer said Beheira’s share includes 3,915 projects across six districts benefiting around 3.7 million citizens, with advanced implementation rates.
She also presented a comprehensive vision to develop Rashid city into a global tourist destination, combining heritage preservation with sustainable development through revitalizing handicrafts, developing Nilefront areas, restoring historic buildings, and enhancing tourism and economic activities.
Azer added that the ongoing file of building reconciliation applications has achieved over 90 percent completion by the first week of May 2026.
