Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reaffirmed the depth of the strategic partnership between Egypt and China, stressing the two countries' commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and building on the positive outcomes achieved in recent years to support development efforts and advance their shared interests.
Madbouly made the remarks on Monday, Aug 3, 2026, while chairing the third meeting of the ministerial China Unit, which reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors. The meeting was attended by Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir, Civil Aviation Minister Sameh El Hefny, Agriculture and Land Reclamation Minister Alaa Farouk, Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi, alongside several ministers who joined via videoconference.
Senior officials from the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Central Bank of Egypt, the Federation of Egyptian Industries, the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority, the Finance Ministry and other relevant bodies also participated. Madbouly reviewed developments in bilateral cooperation and progress in implementing a number of joint projects, emphasizing the need for continued coordination among relevant authorities to ensure the implementation of the Egypt-China strategic partnership agenda and maximize opportunities for cooperation in investment, industry, energy, transport, infrastructure and technology.
He noted that Chinese investments in Egypt have exceeded $10 billion, reflecting growing confidence among Chinese businesses in Egypt's investment climate and the opportunities offered by the country. Cabinet spokesman Mohamed El Homosany said the meeting reviewed a number of joint projects and investment opportunities with the Chinese side in priority sectors, underscoring the breadth of the two countries' partnership and its future potential.
The projects cover industry, seawater desalination, technology localization, telecommunications, transport, mining, clean energy, specialized chemical industries, engineering industries, agriculture and expanding Egyptian agricultural exports, among other fields that support sustainable development, technology transfer, increased investment and broader economic cooperation between Egypt and China.
Participating ministers also reviewed ongoing areas of cooperation and opportunities to further expand bilateral collaboration across various sectors.
