Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Egypt considers the automotive and clean and renewable energy sectors government priorities, expressing hope that Japan’s Toyota Tsusho Group will expand its presence and investments in the Egyptian market.
Speaking with Toyota Tsusho Corporation President and CEO Toshimitsu Imai, Madbouly highlighted the longstanding strategic partnership between Egypt and Japan and the government’s support for increased investment. Industry Minister Khaled Hashim said Egypt aims to become a regional hub for vehicle assembly and manufacturing through incentives and greater localization, benefiting from the country’s trade agreements, strategic location and infrastructure to boost exports.
Imai said Toyota Tsusho has a strong presence in Egypt across automotive, green infrastructure and energy. Toyota and Lexus sales reached about 9,600 vehicles in 2025, while the group plans to assemble a new Toyota model locally. The group also has investments in power generation and wind energy projects.
