Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom discussed on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, with Chairman of the National Media Authority (NMA) Ahmed el Moslemany joint efforts to resolve financial interdependencies and settle the NMA’s longstanding debts owed to the National Investment Bank (NIB).

The discussions took place during an expanded meeting attended by Assistant Minister for Technical Office Affairs and Supervisor of the Minister’s Office Sector Kamal Nasr, Acting Managing Director of the National Investment Bank Dalia Moustafa as well as a number of officials from the NIB and the NMA.

Rostom stressed that the meeting comes in line with the directives of the political leadership to swiftly resolve outstanding financial entanglements between the NIB and the NMA. He also highlighted Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly’s close follow-up of all procedures related to this important file, alongside efforts to support the NMA’s comprehensive development plans.

Rostom said that the settlement of the NIB’s historical debts is making unprecedented progress, noting that resolving these long-standing files would directly strengthen the bank’s financial position and form part of a comprehensive restructuring plan aimed at maximizing returns on its assets and enabling it to fulfill its strategic role as a key arm of development finance.

He added that the restructuring efforts would also support the state’s broader economic and social development agenda and enhance the bank’s capacity to contribute effectively to national development priorities. For his part, Moslemany expressed his appreciation to the minister of planning and economic development for the support provided in the settlement process and for the close cooperation with the NMA.

He stressed that the swift moves reflect a strong and serious government commitment to resolving accumulated problems, paving the way for further efforts to modernize the NMA, strengthen its institutional capabilities and maximize its media and public-service role during the coming period.
