The Petroleum Projects and Technical Consultations Company (PETROJET) has signed a $22.7 million contract to connect Jordan’s Al-Muwaqqar Industrial Development Zone, south of Amman, to the country’s natural gas network, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said on Thursday.
The project includes the design, procurement and construction of a 22-kilometer natural gas pipeline linking the industrial zone to the Arab Gas Pipeline. Petrojet will also build gas pressure reduction and metering stations, along with sending and receiving facilities.
The contract was signed by Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al-Kharabsheh and Petrojet Chairman Waleed Lotfy. The project will be carried out for Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and is scheduled for completion within 18 months.
Petrojet will execute the work in a consortium with Jordan’s Ahmad Yousef Al-Tarawneh Company, the project’s general contractor. The Ministry said that the contract forms part of its plans to expand the operations of Egyptian petroleum companies abroad and increase their participation in energy and infrastructure projects in regional and international markets.
The deal also expands Petrojet’s operations outside Egypt and adds a new project to energy cooperation between Egypt and Jordan.
