The National Food Safety Authority (NFSA) stated on Sunday, June 28, 2026, that a total of 4,500 food consignments, totaling 216,000 tons, were successfully shipped by 1,484 exporting companies. The shipments spanned approximately 760 distinct food product categories.
The NFSA, in its 23rd weekly report of 2026, covering period between June 20-26th, said that fruit exports comprised 40 varieties, totaling 53,000 tons. Citrus topped the list at 23,000 tons, followed by grapes at 14,000 tons and strawberry at 12,000 tons. Vegetable exports included 42 varieties, totaling 45,000 tons.
Onion led at 12,000 tons, followed by potatoes at 7,000 tons and sweet potatoes at 6,000 tons. A total of 191 countries imported Egyptian food products during the aforementioned period, with the US, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Sudan, and the UAE are the top destinations.
On imports, the authority said 2,002 food consignments, totaling 275,000 tons were received by 868 importing companies.
