The National Bank of Egypt (NBE) topped the ranking of Egypt’s most valuable brands in 2025, with a brand value of dlrs 717 million, according to Brand Finance’s ranking of the world’s strongest and most influential brands. NBE retained the top spot for the third consecutive year, with its brand value rising 9% in 2025, supported by strong financial performance, a growing customer base, a diversified product offering, and continued expansion in digital banking and sustainable finance.
NBE is Egypt’s largest bank by customer base, deposits, and financing. Its customer base exceeded 22 million, while deposits reached around EGP 6.1 trillion as of June 2026, including about EGP 4.2 trillion in retail deposits. The lender operates around 707 branches and banking units, alongside more than 7,520 ATMs.
Its digital banking footprint has also expanded, with more than 8.8 million retail customers using the Al Ahly Net platform. Its large corporate and syndicated-loan portfolio climbed to around EGP 5.5 trillion by the end of June 2026, up about 14% from 2025. Direct financing accounted for around EGP 4.6 trillion, including medium- and long-term loans and operating credit facilities, while indirect financing reached EGP 845 billion, covering letters of credit and guarantees.
The number of active large corporate customers reached around 1,650 by June 2026 after NBE added 110 new clients with approved credit limits totaling EGP 36.6 billion. During the first half of 2026, NBE arranged around 19 syndicated financing deals worth EGP 169 billion, with its share totaling about EGP 60 billion.
Financing for environmental and social projects reached around EGP 397 billion through June 2026. The portfolio covered solar power, water treatment, sustainable transport, and green buildings, as well as financing for industrial companies transitioning to lower-carbon production systems.
NBE reported net profit of EGP 132.2 billion for the first nine months of 2025, up from EGP 118.4 billion a year earlier, marking an 11.7% increase. Pre-tax profit reached EGP 242.7 billion, while net interest income stood at EGP 250.9 billion and net fees and commissions income totaled EGP 26.2 billion.
Total assets reached around EGP 8.93 trillion at the end of September 2025, while the combined customer and bank loan portfolio exceeded EGP 4.5 trillion.
