Egypt's Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gembalat stressed the importance of implementing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to broaden partnerships with the global private sector and strengthen cooperation with African countries in ways that serve the common interests of the continent's peoples.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with Egypt's ambassador to Uganda Sherif el-Gamal to discuss areas of mutual interest, at the Ministry of Military Production's headquarters in the New Capital, in the presence of ministry and National Organization for Military Production officials.
Gembalat welcomed Gamal and congratulated him on his new appointment as Egypt's ambassador to Uganda, wishing him success in his diplomatic duties. The minister reviewed key military and civilian products manufactured by military production companies, saying the ministry operates an integrated system comprising 15 industrial companies and four specialized companies, including firms for information systems, construction and maintenance, as well as a center for scientific and technological excellence.
He said the ministry has an advanced industrial and technological base comprising 260 production lines, numerous laboratories and testing centers, and about 980 CNC machines, offering promising opportunities for industrial partnerships aimed at supplying production inputs and meeting the needs of the Ugandan market.
The minister said Egypt places African cooperation among its top priorities, noting the ministry's keennes on opening new avenues for promising strategic partnerships that would deepen relations between the two countries. He also welcomed visits by Ugandan technical delegations to military production companies and facilities to assess their technological and manufacturing capabilities and discuss potential areas of cooperation.
For his part, Gamal praised the manufacturing, technological, technical and human resources of entities affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production, as well as their role in meeting the needs of Egypt's armed forces and police for weapons, ammunition, equipment and advanced electronic systems.
He also highlighted the use of surplus production capacity at affiliated companies to manufacture a range of civilian products and contribute to national and development projects, while praising the ministry's recent growth in exports. Gamal also said that during his upcoming tenure in Kampala, he would seek to expand cooperation between the two countries, increase opportunities for Egyptian products, particularly those manufactured by military production companies, to enter the Ugandan market, and overcome any challenges in a way that serves their shared interests and strengthens the historic and fraternal ties between the two countries.
