Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem participated in a session entitled “Egypt’s Experience in Increasing Productivity and Deepening Local Manufacturing”, on the sidelines of participating in the 35th Annual Meeting and Business Forum of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) held in the Latvian capital, Riga.
The minister confirmed that the Ministry of Industry recently updated its strategy to advance Egyptian industry and increase Egypt’s industrial exports to $100 billion by 2030 through focusing on attracting global investments related to the transfer of technology and industrial expertise.
The minister noted that the strategy identified 7 industries will be priority based on clear scientific foundations and standards to achieve these goals by creating an attractive investment environment and incentives and setting appropriate industrial policies.
The industries include ready-made garments, spinning and weaving, food and pharmaceutical industries, automobiles, electrical and engineering equipment and electronics assembly, in addition to identifying a number of enabling, complementary and strategic industries.
