Minister of State for Military Production Salah Suleiman Gomblat, in the presence of Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Defense, witnessed on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between two companies affiliated with Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production, Helwan Chemical Industries Company (Factory 81) and Helwan Engineering Industries Company (Factory 99), and Turkey’s Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE).

The signing ceremony was held as part of the First Balkan Shield – Defence Industry Expo and Summit 2026, taking place in Sarajevo from September 1 to 4. Gomblat said the signing of the MoU reflects Egypt’s commitment to implementing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to establish strategic partnerships with brotherly and friendly countries and strengthen international cooperation across various fields.

He added that the agreement underscores the Ministry of Military Production’s efforts to create new opportunities for industrial partnerships between its affiliated companies and their Turkish counterparts in areas of mutual interest. Gomblat noted that companies on both sides possess advanced capabilities and extensive expertise in the defense industry, stressing that the cooperation would contribute to the exchange of technical and technological expertise and the optimal use of the manufacturing capabilities available to both sides.

For his part, Turkey’s Deputy Minister of Defense highlighted the continued development of relations between Egypt and Turkey and the two countries’ efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in a manner that serves their mutual interests. He praised the progress achieved by Egypt’s defense industries, noting that Turkey is one of the world’s leading countries in defense manufacturing and is keen to further strengthen cooperation with friendly countries.

Meanwhile, MKE representatives expressed their satisfaction with cooperation with Egypt’s Ministry of Military Production, particularly in light of the technological capabilities, manufacturing capacity and highly qualified human resources available at its affiliated companies.
