Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gomblat said the ministry is committed to maximizing the use of its technological, manufacturing and research capabilities to strengthen the competitiveness of Egypt's national industry and transform innovation into market-oriented products that support the country's development goals.
His remarks came during an inspection tour of Benha Electronics Industries Company (Military Factory 144), accompanied by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and Qalyubia Governor Hossam Abdel Fattah, in the presence of senior officials from the two ministries and the governorate.
The visit was held in line with directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to enhance integration among national institutions and increase reliance on locally manufactured products. The delegation toured the company's research and development exhibition, which showcased its technological and research capabilities through a range of products manufactured to international standards, including railway signaling systems, printed circuit boards and mechanical engineering products.
The exhibition also featured solar cell monitoring and control systems as well as smart lighting poles, reflecting the state's efforts to capitalize on Egypt's renewable energy resources and expand the use of clean energy technologies and smart infrastructure.
The ministers and the governor also inspected several production lines, including LED lighting, electric meter testing, tablet manufacturing, surface-mount technology (SMT) assembly for electronic boards and circuits, solar panel production and laboratories responsible for testing raw materials and ensuring compliance with international quality standards.
Gomblat said the Ministry of Military Production is keen to strengthen cooperation with ministries, national institutions and development partners to maximize the utilization of available capabilities, support the state's comprehensive development plans and build a competitive national industrial base capable of keeping pace with rapid technological advancements.
He added that the ministry continues to support Benha Electronics Industries Company in developing its products, introducing new manufacturing lines and expanding partnerships, particularly in the field of renewable energy applications, to meet growing domestic market demand.
For his part, Electricity Minister Mahmoud Esmat said the production capabilities showcased during the visit, including solar panels, electricity meters, LED lamps, energy-efficient lighting systems, testing laboratories and calibration equipment, represent an integrated industrial base that can support the state's strategy to maximize returns on public assets.
Esmat highlighted the ongoing coordination between the Ministries of Electricity and Military Production to localize advanced technology and expand domestic manufacturing, particularly in the electrical equipment sector, noting that the Ministry of Electricity has introduced preferential measures to promote the use of locally manufactured products in national projects, especially renewable energy schemes.
The minister said Egypt's National Energy Strategy targets raising the share of renewable energy in the country's energy mix to 45 percent by 2028, supporting efforts to localize the production of electrical equipment. He added that the electricity sector is also working to expand the local manufacturing of solar cells, energy storage batteries and specialized equipment required for major national projects.
