Minister of State for Military Production Salah Soliman Gomblat stressed on Monday, August 10, 2026, the need to keep pace with technological advances, transfer advanced manufacturing technologies and expand specialized training, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI).
He said these efforts would contribute to building qualified scientific and technical cadres capable of meeting the evolving needs of industry. Gomblat made the remarks during a visit to the Scientific and Technological Center of Excellence affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production, where he reviewed ongoing research activities and the progress of research and development projects.
The minister was briefed on the key findings of the projects and ways to apply their outputs to support and upgrade manufacturing processes. The presentation also covered AI applications aimed at improving performance and operational efficiency, as well as cooperation with affiliated companies, universities and research centers.
Gomblat also reviewed the center’s scientific and technological capabilities and their potential application in research projects designed to address industrial needs and make better use of specialized research expertise. He stressed the importance of translating research findings into practical applications that deliver tangible benefits to the manufacturing sector and of aligning research projects with the needs of companies affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production.
During the visit, Gomblat met with researchers and staff at the center and heard their proposals for advancing research activities. He called for creating a supportive environment for research and innovation, as well as providing training, professional development and self-learning opportunities to strengthen researchers’ skills.
He also encouraged researchers to develop ideas and innovative solutions that could improve workplace systems and enhance performance.
