Minister of State for Military Production Salah Suleiman Gomblat and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid met on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Ministry of Military Production's headquarters in the New Capital to discuss mechanisms for enhancing cooperation between the two ministries.
The meeting focused on leveraging the national capabilities of the Military Production Ministry's companies and affiliated units to attract investment, strengthen local manufacturing and support comprehensive and sustainable development. The meeting was attended by Mohamed Awad, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI), along with senior officials from both ministries.
The meeting was held as part of the state's efforts to strengthen integration among national institutions in support of investment and production. During the meeting, Gomblat reviewed the ministry's key activities, areas of work and the advanced manufacturing, technological and technical capabilities of its affiliated companies and units.
He stressed that the Ministry of Military Production possesses an advanced national industrial base and extensive accumulated expertise that enable it to fulfill its primary role of meeting the needs of the Armed Forces and the police, while also utilizing surplus production capacity to manufacture high-quality civilian products and actively participate in implementing national development projects.
He noted that the ministry's strategy is based on expanding cooperative partnerships with various state institutions and the private sector to attract new investments, localize advanced manufacturing technologies, increase the local content ratio and support the national economy.
Gomblat added that the current phase requires stronger integration among all sectors and state institutions to achieve sustainable development and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian industry, in line with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's directives to build a strong national economy that is more capable of growth and sustainability and is driven by production, competitiveness and innovation.
For his part, Farid said the meeting reflects the state's approach to integrating the roles of different government entities in a way that supports industrial development, creates a more attractive environment for domestic and foreign investment, promotes economic growth and generates employment opportunities.
He emphasized the importance of maximizing the use of Egypt's investment map as a primary platform for promoting investment opportunities, particularly industrial projects that could be implemented in partnership with companies and units affiliated with the Ministry of Military Production.
He also called for regularly updating the investment map and presenting it to investors in a professional manner to support the localization of modern industries and increase local content. The two sides agreed to continue coordination in order to develop executive mechanisms for the areas of cooperation discussed, with the aim of maximizing the use of national industrial capabilities, supporting the state's efforts to attract investment, enhancing the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and achieving sustainable development.
