Egypt's Export Development Fund (EDF) stated on Thursday, July 16, 2026, that the medical industries sector is one of the most promising export areas. CEO of the EDF and the General Authority for Export Development Hatem el Nawawy emphasized that the Fund is working with the Export Council for Medical Industries and other key players to remove barriers for companies and improve their readiness to enter international markets.
The CEO made his comments during a meeting with Mohi Mohamed Hafez, Chairman of the Export Council for Medical Industries and Rasha Nasr, the Council's Executive Director. They reviewed the sector's performance, discussed opportunities to boost medical industry exports, talked about challenges facing exporting companies and looked at ways to improve the competitiveness of Egyptian products in international markets.
The meeting also reviewed performance indicators for the sector, revealing that Spain, Saudi Arabia and Yemen were the top destinations for Egyptian pharmaceutical exports. Germany, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were the main markets for Egyptian medical supplies and devices, while Saudi Arabia the UAE and the United Kingdom had the largest share of Egypt's cosmetics exports.
For his part, Hafez stressed that the sector has great potential to support the growth of Egypt's exports and strengthen the state's position as a regional hub for medical industries.
