Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Sunday, September 20, 2026, to review key economic priorities for the coming period, including preparations for a conference called for by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and developments in the National Economic Transformation Program.
Madbouly said the conference will serve as a national platform to address public questions and concerns, review progress made in recent years, discuss current challenges and outline a forward-looking vision on key economic and development issues. The meeting reviewed the proposed main themes of the conference, which is expected to bring together state institutions, experts, academics, the private sector, civil society and citizens to exchange views, assess the impact of the development process and help identify priorities for the next phase.
The conference is also expected to produce clear priorities, actionable recommendations and initiatives that can be implemented and monitored, the Cabinet spokesman said. The meeting also reviewed the National Economic Transformation Program, which aims to build a resilient and stable economy driven by the private sector while boosting exports, creating jobs and improving living standards.
The program builds on previous reform initiatives and seeks to assess progress, analyze outcomes and address outstanding challenges to develop a matrix of economic reforms and executive measures, with interventions focused on areas with the greatest impact. The meeting stressed the need for continued coordination among relevant authorities to update targets and advance a comprehensive competitiveness-driven economic transformation program in line with the planned timetable.
