Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad said that Egypt continues to strengthen its role in environmental sustainability and biodiversity financing through participation in regional and international initiatives. Her remarks came during Egypt’s participation in the 12th Regional Dialogue for African and Arab States, organized by the UN Development Program through the Biodiversity Finance Initiative (BIOFIN), with participation from 56 countries.
Awad said that the dialogue focused on exchanging experiences, discussing innovative financing tools for biodiversity, supporting national financing plans, and expanding regional cooperation. The delegation presented Egypt’s experience in biodiversity financing, including environmental funding solutions, private sector partnerships, and efforts to integrate social inclusion and gender equality into environmental projects.
Egypt also ranked fourth in the event’s scientific poster competition for its presentation on natural reserve benefit rights. The Minister added that Egypt seeks to expand environmental partnerships and support sustainable investment projects linked to biodiversity protection.
