Labour Minister Hassan Raddad affirmed that the state, under directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, continues to strengthen the social protection system for workers and support legislation balancing the interests of workers and employers alike, stressing that investing in Egyptian citizens is a priority for the New Republic.
This came during an open dialogue hosted by the Coordination Committee of Parties' Youth and Politicians (CPYP), attended by CPYP Rapporteur Haitham El-Sheikh, MP Nashwa El-Sherif, lawmakers, and Labor Ministry leaders to address inquiries regarding the labor law, employment, training, and social protection.
Raddad said total support provided by the ministry through its three funds and the central account for informal workers exceeded EGP 10.284 billion from January 2014 to June 30, 2026, benefiting hundreds of thousands of families, while the Emergency Subsidies Fund supported 441,600 workers across 3,999 establishments.
He added that the new Labor Law No. 14 of 2025 represents a vital socio-economic legislation drafted after extensive societal dialogue in line with international labor standards, balancing worker rights with employer interests while accommodating modern employment patterns like remote and platform work.
The minister explained that the ministry aims to build a balanced partnership by ensuring rights, providing fair dispute settlement mechanisms, and prioritizing vocational training with the private sector to prepare youth for future jobs. He noted that the digital labor market platform represents a modern vision for a smart labour market providing integrated e-services, pointing out that digitizing the labour certificate service marks the actual start of the ministry's comprehensive digital transformation.
Raddad stressed that empowering women, ensuring safe work environments, and embedding social dialogue remain constant priorities to support investment and keep pace with labor market developments.
