Kazakhstan has advanced to 57th position in the 2026 Henley Passport Index, reflecting increased travel freedom for its citizens, according to data compiled by Qazinform.
The Kazakhstani passport now grants its holders visa-free or streamlined entry to 78 countries and territories worldwide. This represents a notable improvement in the country's global mobility standing.
At the summit of the index, Singapore maintains its dominance with access to 192 destinations. A cluster of nations follows closely: Japan, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates each secure 187 destinations, underscoring the strong travel privileges held by their citizens.
The Henley Passport Index draws upon data from the International Air Transport Association to evaluate and rank the travel freedom associated with passports from countries around the world.
Within the Commonwealth of Independent States regional grouping, Kazakhstan positions itself below the Russian Federation, which ranks 44th with access to 113 destinations. However, Kazakhstan surpasses all other Central Asian states in the ranking.
Analysts note that the Henley Passport Index, which undergoes monthly updates, serves as an indicator of a nation's diplomatic relationships, bilateral visa agreements, and broader integration into the global community.
Kazakhstan's advancement in mobility metrics follows other recent international recognition, including improvements in the Climatescope clean energy investment ranking.
