Kazakhstan's industrial output totaled 15.17 trillion tenge in the first quarter of 2026, according to data released by the National Statistics Bureau on April 17. The production index surged to 116.2% compared to the previous month, signaling robust momentum across the country's industrial base.
Manufacturing emerged as the dominant force within the national industrial structure, generating 7.56 trillion tenge in output during the three-month period. The mining sector followed with 6.24 trillion tenge, while energy supply contributed 1.24 trillion tenge and water supply and waste disposal activities accounted for the remaining 127.6 billion tenge.
Regional Industrial Landscape
Atyrau region claimed the top position in Kazakhstan's industrial rankings, delivering 2.60 trillion tenge in output—more than double the contribution from any other region. Karaganda region secured second place with 1.30 trillion tenge, trailed by Pavlodar at 1.08 trillion tenge and Mangistau at 977.9 billion tenge. West Kazakhstan region rounded out the top five with 889.1 billion tenge.
Major urban centers also made substantial contributions, with Astana recording 986.9 billion tenge and Almaty generating 701.8 billion tenge. East Kazakhstan contributed 805.8 billion tenge, Abai region delivered 799.8 billion tenge, Kostanay region produced 740.8 billion tenge, and Aktobe region added 726.3 billion tenge to the national total.
Commodity Production Volumes
In physical terms, Kazakhstan produced 28.8 million tons of coal, 19.7 million tons of crude oil, and 13.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas during the quarter. The mining sector also delivered 37.7 million tons of copper ore and 12.7 million tons of iron ore to feed downstream processing industries.
Metallurgical facilities produced 1.04 million tons of crude steel, 117.6 thousand tons of refined copper, 12.9 tons of refined gold, and 146.6 tons of silver. The machine-building segment manufactured 42,000 passenger cars and 4,400 electric transformers.
Construction and Energy Output
The construction materials sector produced over 2.65 million tons of cement and 4.65 million tons of commercial concrete, alongside 579,000 tons of sulfuric acid. Energy generation reached 33.55 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and 39.2 million gigacalories of heat, with natural water extraction totaling 647.2 million cubic meters.
The food processing industry recorded significant output volumes, including more than 1 million tons of flour, 121,500 tons of bread, 17,900 tons of meat, 164,600 tons of dairy products, and 201,800 tons of sunflower oil. Breweries produced 118.9 million liters of beer during the quarter.
