Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) Mohamed Abdel Fattah Abu Bakr held talks on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, with Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem on the AOI’s manufacturing capabilities and its role as an industrial backbone for the Egyptian state.
The talks covered the AOI’s extensive expertise in various defense and civilian industrial sectors, as well as its role in designing and manufacturing products and components currently imported from abroad, while meeting the needs of industrial sectors in accordance with international quality standards.
The Industry Minister’s visit to the AOI comes as part of the state’s efforts to implement Egypt’s Vision 2030 for Sustainable Development, particularly its objective of maximizing the utilization of available manufacturing and production capacities across civilian industrial sectors in cooperation with the AOI.
Such cooperation aims to deepen local manufacturing, localize technology and meet the needs of the domestic market, thereby increasing the added value of national industry, reducing imports and boosting exports. During the meeting, Abu Bakr expressed his readiness and commitment to pursuing serious and constructive cooperation with the Ministry of Industry on joint projects.
He stressed the importance of implementing President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to accelerate the execution of targeted manufacturing plans and projects in line with the state’s strategy to deepen local manufacturing and localize technology. For his part, Minister of Industry Khaled Hashem said the AOI is one of Egypt’s longstanding industrial institutions and a strategic pillar in achieving the state’s objectives of deepening local manufacturing and localizing advanced technologies.
He highlighted the AOI’s engineering capabilities and advanced production lines, which he said are capable of adapting to the latest global industrial developments, making the organization a key partner for the Ministry of Industry in implementing its plans and objectives for comprehensive and sustainable development.
Hashem also praised the AOI’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and its efforts to increase local manufacturing rates and localize technology across various industrial sectors. He noted that cooperation with the AOI offers promising opportunities to strengthen the link between scientific research and industrial applications, expand partnerships with the private sector, and enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products in regional and international markets.
