Minister of Housing Utilities and Urban Communities Randa El-Minshawy met the Omani Minister of Housing and Urban Planning Khalfan bin Said Al-Shuaili to discuss boosting cooperation in housing and urban development, on the sidelines of her participation in the 13th World Urban Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Forum is held during the period from May 17 to 22, 2026, under the theme "Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities". At the beginning of the meeting, El-Minshawy affirmed the deep historical relations between the two countries. She highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals and improve citizens' quality of life.
Both sides reviewed several fields of cooperation. This includes exchanging expertise in urban development, building new cities, and re-planning old areas to improve the urban environment. They also discussed boosting cooperation between public and private companies in housing and real estate development, as well as facilitating investment partnerships for joint projects.
The Egyptian minister expressed the readiness of Egyptian contracting companies to participate in Omani development projects, highlighting their extensive expertise in construction and infrastructure. For his part, Al-Shuaili voiced appreciation for Egypt's unprecedented urban renaissance, praising its achievements in smart new cities, infrastructure, and social housing.
