CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Mohamed Awad reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to supporting the expansion plans of global companies in the Egyptian market, noting that attracting export-oriented industrial investments is a key pillar of the state's strategy to boost exports and deepen local manufacturing.
His remarks came during a meeting with Director of Sri Lanka’s Hirdaramani Group Siddharth Hirdaramani to discuss the group’s plans to expand in Egypt and establish the country as a regional hub for manufacturing and exports to global markets, leveraging the competitive advantages offered by Egypt.
Awad said GAFI would continue providing all necessary support to ensure the successful implementation of the group’s expansion plans, stressing the state's interest in further integrating the Egyptian economy into global supply chains, particularly in the textiles and ready-made garments sectors, through attracting value-added investments, supporting feeder industries and developing local supplier networks.
For his part, Hirdaramani praised the progress achieved in Egypt’s investment climate, describing the Egyptian market as a strategic platform for expanding production and exports. He affirmed the group's intention to continue implementing its investment plans to strengthen its regional and international presence.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to maintain coordination in the coming period to explore new investment opportunities that would support the group’s expansion plans in Egypt, reinforce the country’s position as a regional industrial and export hub, increase foreign direct investment, support economic growth and create jobs.
