Deputy CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Iman Mansour affirmed that Egypt-China relations continue to advance, underpinned by a strategic partnership that supports investment. Mansour emphasized GAFI’s commitment to fostering a more competitive business environment to attract new investments and deepen economic cooperation with China.
Her remarks came during a meeting with a high-level delegation from China’s Xicheng District, headed by Wang Bo, to discuss ways of enhancing economic and investment cooperation and attracting more Chinese investments to the Egyptian market. The meeting was held within the framework of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade’s efforts to expand cooperation with international partners and increase foreign direct investment inflows.
The discussions focused on cooperation opportunities between GAFI and economic and financial institutions in Xicheng District, one of China’s leading financial and economic hubs. The two sides also reviewed investment opportunities in tourism, hospitality, new and renewable energy, electrical appliances manufacturing, engineering industries, automotive production, and financial services.
Talks further addressed mechanisms for providing financing to Chinese companies seeking to invest in Egypt, as well as leveraging Chinese expertise in financial services and banking technology to support new projects. Both sides agreed to organize a delegation comprising representatives of 16 major Chinese companies to visit Egypt in the coming period to explore available investment opportunities, assess the feasibility of new projects, and expand existing investments, to boost Chinese investment flows into the Egyptian market.
The two parties also discussed the possibility of establishing an investment promotion and representation office in Xicheng District, in addition to organizing joint economic events and forums and continuing investment promotion missions to China to strengthen the economic partnership between the two countries.
