Following up on the meeting held earlier this month by Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT Minister), with the leadership of DP World (the Group) in the presence of the heads of MIFT-affiliated bodies, the Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI CEO), Dr.
Mohamed Awad, held a meeting with a delegation from DP World to discuss the Group’s plans to expand in the Egyptian market in the period ahead, alongside a review of a number of investment opportunities that align with its strategic direction and international expertise in ports, logistics, and supply and distribution chains.
During the meeting, GAFI CEO was briefed on DP World’s strategy and future plans to strengthen its operations and investments in Egypt, as well as the areas it is targeting for expansion, in light of the Egyptian market's competitive assets, distinguished geographic location, and advanced infrastructure linking various regional and international markets.
The meeting also covered a number of promising investment opportunities aligned with the Group’s expansion goals, particularly those tied to logistics activities; storage and distribution centers; integrated services and supply chains, alongside a discussion of the appropriate investment frameworks for carrying out the targeted projects.
Dr. Awad affirmed that GAFI is committed to maintaining direct, ongoing communication with global companies operating in Egypt, staying abreast of their future investment plans, and working to provide all the institutional support needed to facilitate their investment expansions, in coordination with the relevant bodies.
He noted that Egypt’s goal is to attract more high-quality, value-added investments that help raise the efficiency of the transportation and logistics network, strengthen the competitiveness of the Egyptian exports, increase added value, and create jobs, thereby reinforcing Egypt's standing as an integrated regional hub for trade, investme
