Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised the vital role played by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) in financing development projects across the continent. During a meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, with BADEA President Abdullah Almusaibeeh, Abdelatty discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and support economic development efforts in Africa.
The minister expressed Egypt's aspiration to expand cooperation with BADEA in the coming period to advance sustainable development in African countries and strengthen economic ties between Arab and African states. Abdelatty underscored Egypt's support for the role of Arab financial institutions in promoting trade and investment, with a view to boosting trade between Egypt and African countries in coordination with Egyptian banking institutions and the private sector.
He also reviewed Egypt's extensive expertise in Africa, particularly in the fields of energy, water resources management, port development and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The minister stressed the importance of exploring trilateral cooperation among Egypt, BADEA and African countries, while leveraging Egyptian expertise in implementing development projects.
He also called for enhancing BADEA's contribution to Egyptian-led development initiatives through financing, technical support and capacity-building programs, as well as supporting intra-African trade under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). For his part, Almusaibeeh commended Egypt's pivotal role in promoting Arab-African cooperation and strengthening economic and investment ties among African countries, expressing his keenness to deepen cooperation with the Egyptian government and private sector to support development projects across the continent.
