Al Ezz Dekheila Steel Company (EZDK) has completed a crane drives modernization project at Dekheila Port in cooperation with ABB Egypt, aimed at improving operational efficiency, reliability, and equipment performance. The project involved upgrading the port’s crane operating systems with advanced drive technologies and monitoring solutions, enabling real-time equipment monitoring, improved operational reliability, and reduced unplanned downtime.

According to ABB Egypt, the modernization was carried out through a retrofit approach, upgrading existing infrastructure rather than replacing equipment. The project helped maintain operational continuity while extending asset life, improving productivity, and supporting the port’s digital transformation efforts.

ABB said the upgrade demonstrates how industrial operators can enhance efficiency and sustainability through modernization of existing assets, while reducing maintenance requirements and optimizing operational performance. EZDK is a key subsidiary of Ezz Steel.

Ezz Steel operates four fully integrated steelmaking plants in Egypt with a combined production capacity of 7 mln tons of flat and long steel products annually.
