Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the first phase of the El-Gharably Industrial Complex for integrated engineering and steel structures in New Borg El-Arab City, Alexandria. The complex covers an area of 315,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity exceeding 100,000 tons of steel structures.
The facility is designed to support major infrastructure, industrial, transport, and energy projects across Egypt. According to the company, the first phase includes a steel structures plant spanning 100,000 square meters with annual capacity exceeding 100,000 tons.
The facility supplies steel structures for national projects including the Decent Life initiative, Abu Qir New City, and the West Arc Axis. The first phase also includes a 50,000-square-meter maintenance and engine overhaul workshop complex, capable of carrying out 20 engine overhauls, 10 complete renewals, and 40 general repairs per month.
In addition, an industrial and medical gases plant with a production capacity of 550 cylinders per day has been established. The project currently employs around 3,000 workers, with plans to increase the workforce to 5,000. The company said it relies heavily on locally sourced steel and is developing partnerships with international companies to support technology transfer and export growth.
As part of the second phase, El-Gharably is studying a partnership with Turkey’s Erciyas to establish a spiral welded pipe manufacturing facility with annual production capacity of 50,000 tons, with around half of the output targeted for export. Other planned projects include railway wagon and agricultural machinery manufacturing facilities in cooperation with Polish partners.
