Minister of Labor Hassan Raddad discussed with Yemeni Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Mokhtar el Yafai on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, means of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in employment, vocational training and workforce qualification.
The talks, held on the sidelines of the 52nd session of the Arab Labor Conference in Cairo, tackled exchanging expertise and successful experiences to help develop labor market policies and programs. The two sides reviewed several proposed areas of cooperation, foremost among them benefiting from Egypt’s experience in developing and implementing its National Employment Strategy.
They discussed a proposal to establish a joint committee to cooperate on the issue in a way that meets the needs of the Yemeni labor market and supports efforts to create jobs and develop workforce skills. Raddad outlined the main pillars of Egypt’s National Employment Strategy, including measures to develop the employment system, improve workforce efficiency and align vocational training with labor market needs.
He also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to expand vocational training and job-oriented qualification programs. The meeting addressed the ministry’s experience with mobile training units, which provide training opportunities in a range of occupations and specializations, allowing vocational training services to reach remote and rural areas and helping qualify young people in line with skills demanded by the labor market.
Raddad affirmed the ministry’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Yemen and exchanging expertise and successful practices in employment, vocational training and skills development. He stressed the importance of Arab integration in developing labor systems and enhancing the readiness of Arab workers to meet the requirements of local, regional and international labor markets.
For his part, Al-Yafai praised Egypt’s experience in employment, vocational training and workforce qualification, stressing the importance of benefiting from Egyptian expertise in preparing and developing Yemen’s National Employment Strategy. Such cooperation, he said, would support both countries’ efforts to address labor market challenges and expand employment opportunities for young people.
