Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid Saleh discussed with Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, ways to strengthen investment and trade cooperation between the two countries during a meeting at the Investment Ministry's headquarters in Cairo on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
The two sides explored partnership opportunities between the Egyptian and Uzbek business communities in a number of sectors of mutual concern. The meeting tackled the establishment of joint investment zones in the production of buses and tractors, pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, as well as textiles and ready-made garments.
They also reviewed opportunities for investment in Egypt's capital market and ways to enhance collaboration between investment institutions and sovereign wealth funds in both countries. The Investment Minister said Egypt is keen to attract Uzbek investments and take advantage of the opportunities available in the Egyptian market, noting the government is working to provide a business-friendly and investment-supportive environment to boost joint investments and expand bilateral trade.
For his part, Saidov said Uzbekistan is keen to expand its economic partnership with Egypt and diversify its overseas investments, citing the interest of Uzbek companies in exploring investment opportunities in the Egyptian market and benefiting from the country's strategic location and its access to regional and global markets.
The two ministers agreed to maintain coordination between the relevant authorities in both countries to follow up on joint initiatives and build on the outcome of the meeting in a way that advances economic, investment and trade cooperation in the coming period.
